PhaseOne Capture One

Capture One; A Lightroom Alternative?

Capture One, the RAW converter from PhaseOne now supports the Fujifilm X-T1 RAW format.  Capture One comes in two versions: Pro and Express.  The Pro lists for $299 while the Express version is $99.  The Express version lacks some features of the Pro version, including local adjustments, keystone correction and the skin tone enhancer.  Capture One doesn’t have the film simulation profiles that Adobe has added to Camera RAW.

Adobe has a release candidate for their Camera RAW converter that handles Fujifilm X-T1 RAF file but there is no Lightroom equivalent. This would mean pulling the RAW files directly from the SD card and using Camera RAW to edit.  I haven’t tried PhotoNinja, which I heard handles X-T1 RAW files very well but performance is terrible.

I’ll have to try Capture One 7 to see how the RAW files for the Fujifilm X-T1 look.  Have you ever tried or used Capture One software? Leave a comment to share your thoughts.

  1. Since you do not give a date for your post regarding Fuji X-T1 it is impossible to know if your post is current. A date to your posts would be very useful. Thanks.

      Hi Richard,

The post refers to Capture One version 7 and the current version of Capture One is version 8. Capture One does support the Fuji X-T1 and the post was written at a time when there were few RAW converter choices because the X-T1 was so new.

Good point on the post date, I’ll look at adding back to the post meta.
